Return, Refund & Plant Guarantee Policy

Last Updated: August 17, 2026

Austin Maples & Garden Trees takes pride in providing healthy plants, carefully selected specimen trees, bonsai, handcrafted products, and professional tree-care services. Because many of our products are living plants, individually selected specimens, or custom-made items, the following return, refund, and plant-care policies apply.

Live Plants, Trees & Bonsai

All sales of live plants, trees, and bonsai are final once the customer accepts possession, whether through local pickup or delivery.

Customers are encouraged to inspect plants at the time of pickup or delivery. Any visible damage, incorrect item, or concern regarding the condition of a plant at the time it is received should be reported to Austin Maples & Garden Trees within 24 hours of pickup or delivery. Photographs may be required to document the condition of the plant.

Plants and trees are living organisms. Once a plant leaves our care, its health and appearance can be affected by factors outside our control, including watering, planting technique, soil conditions, drainage, irrigation, sunlight, temperature, weather, transportation, pests, disease, chemical exposure, and ongoing maintenance.

Unless Austin Maples & Garden Trees provides a separate written guarantee for a specific purchase or installation, continued plant health or survival after customer acceptance is not guaranteed.

Customer Pickup

Customers selecting local pickup are responsible for inspecting their plants before accepting possession and for safely transporting them.

Once a plant has been accepted, responsibility for transportation, securing, unloading, planting, placement, watering, and subsequent care transfers to the customer.

Austin Maples & Garden Trees is not responsible for damage caused by improper transportation, inadequate securing, wind exposure during transportation, excessive heat, improper unloading, or other handling after customer acceptance.

Local Delivery

Standard local delivery includes transportation and unloading at an accessible location unless otherwise stated.

Customers should inspect plants when delivered. Once delivery has been completed and the plant accepted, responsibility for planting, placement, watering, and subsequent care transfers to the customer unless Austin Maples & Garden Trees has also been contracted to provide installation or other services.

Delivery does not include planting or installation unless those services have been separately purchased or specifically included in writing.

Plants Installed by Austin Maples & Garden Trees

Professional installation helps provide appropriate planting depth, placement, soil preparation, and initial watering based on conditions present at the time of installation.

However, installation alone does not guarantee the future health or survival of a living plant.

After installation, the customer is responsible for following watering and aftercare recommendations and for monitoring irrigation and plant condition.

Unless a separate written plant guarantee is provided for a specific purchase or project, plants installed by Austin Maples & Garden Trees are not guaranteed against future decline or loss.

Watering & Irrigation

Proper watering is critical to the establishment and continued health of newly purchased or installed trees and plants.

Customers are responsible for ensuring that plants receive appropriate water based on species, season, weather, soil conditions, drainage, sun exposure, wind, and establishment requirements.

Automatic irrigation systems should not be assumed to provide adequate water without verification.

Austin Maples & Garden Trees is not responsible for plant damage or loss resulting from inadequate watering, excessive watering, irrigation failure, poor drainage, standing water, changes to irrigation, or failure to follow recommended aftercare.

Weather & Environmental Damage

Austin Maples & Garden Trees cannot guarantee plants against damage or loss resulting from conditions outside our reasonable control, including:

  • Extreme heat or drought

  • Freeze or frost

  • Storms or high winds

  • Flooding or excessive rainfall

  • Lightning or fire

  • Animal or wildlife damage

  • Insect or disease problems occurring after purchase

  • Herbicide, pesticide, fertilizer, or other chemical exposure

  • Construction or landscape damage

  • Changes in drainage or grading

  • Irrigation failure

  • Improper watering

  • Improper planting by others

  • Relocation or transplanting after installation

  • Neglect or failure to follow reasonable care recommendations

Japanese Maples & Central Texas Conditions

Japanese maples grown in Central Texas can be sensitive to intense afternoon sun, reflected heat, drought, hot winds, and other environmental stresses.

Seasonal leaf scorch, burned leaf margins, temporary foliage damage, or other cosmetic stress caused by environmental conditions does not necessarily indicate that a tree is unhealthy and is not considered a product defect.

Customers are responsible for providing an appropriate location, watering, and ongoing care for Japanese maples after purchase or installation.

Bonsai

Bonsai require specialized and often more intensive care than landscape trees.

Watering requirements can change rapidly depending on temperature, wind, sunlight, container size, soil composition, species, and season.

Because bonsai health can be affected quickly by watering, temperature, sunlight, repotting, pruning, fertilization, transportation, and other care decisions, all bonsai sales are final and bonsai are not guaranteed after customer acceptance unless otherwise agreed in writing.

Delivery Damage or Incorrect Items

If Austin Maples & Garden Trees delivers an incorrect item or an item is damaged during delivery by us, please contact us within 24 hours of delivery at:

Austinmaplesandgardentrees@gmail.com

Photographs or additional information may be requested so we can evaluate the issue.

When appropriate, Austin Maples & Garden Trees may offer a replacement, store credit, refund, repair, or another reasonable resolution.

Custom Cedar Containers & Made-to-Order Products

Custom and made-to-order products, including custom cedar plant containers and bonsai grow boxes, are final sale once fabrication has begun.

Natural wood varies in grain, knots, color, texture, and appearance. These variations are inherent characteristics of natural wood and are not considered defects.

Minor dimensional variations may occur in handcrafted products unless specific dimensions or tolerances have been agreed upon in writing.

Services & Consultations

Payments for completed consultations, pruning, tree care, delivery, planting, installation, or other completed services are non-refundable.

Consultations and horticultural recommendations represent our professional judgment based on the information and conditions available at the time. Because plant health depends on many environmental and care factors, recommendations cannot guarantee a particular outcome.

Order Cancellations

Orders for regularly stocked products may generally be canceled for a full refund before pickup or delivery.

Special-order plants, specifically sourced specimens, custom products, or other products obtained or produced specifically for a customer may require a non-refundable deposit and may become non-refundable once ordering, sourcing, or fabrication has begun.

Approved Refunds

When a refund is approved, it will generally be issued to the original payment method.

Processing times may vary depending on the customer's financial institution or payment provider.
