3 gallon Horstmann Blue Atlas Cedar with silvery blue foliage for sale in Austin Texas

Horstmann Blue Atlas Cedar – Cedrus atlantica ‘Horstmann’ – 3 Gallon

$129.00

Horstmann Blue Atlas Cedar

Cedrus atlantica ‘Horstmann’

A compact, semi-dwarf selection of Blue Atlas Cedar prized for its striking silvery-blue foliage and naturally irregular, architectural branching.

‘Horstmann’ develops much more slowly and remains considerably smaller than a standard Blue Atlas Cedar, making it an excellent choice for landscapes where the dramatic color and character of an Atlas Cedar are desired without the enormous mature size of the species.

The branching develops an artistic, somewhat unpredictable structure as the tree matures, giving each specimen its own character. Its icy blue evergreen needles provide outstanding year-round color and contrast beautifully with Japanese maples, dark green conifers, stonework, and other Japanese-inspired landscape elements.

Container Size: 3 Gallon
Light: Full sun
Foliage: Evergreen, silvery blue
Growth Habit: Upright, compact and irregular
Growth Rate: Slow to moderate
10-Year Size: Approximately 7–10 ft. tall and 3–5 ft. wide
Water: Moderate during establishment; drought tolerant once established
Soil: Well-draining soil
Hardiness: Approximately USDA Zones 5–9

Western Evergreen describes its 10-year size at approximately 7 × 3 ft., while Wilson Bros gives approximately 10 × 5 ft., so I'd deliberately use a range rather than pretending this cultivar follows a ruler.

Individual plants naturally vary in shape and branching. Photos represent the size and quality of the plants currently available.
